Letterpress

LETTERPRESS is a form of a process called relief printing. It was the primary form of printing until the 20th century. Letterpress was successful in allowing printed material to be available to a wider range of social classes. Locked movable type is inked and forms an impression when paper is pressed against it.

Benefits: fine type and link work

Drawbacks: Not ideal for solid fields of color, is a long process

Common Applications: wedding invitations, greeting cards, business cards
